Vernon and the North Okanagan
Web design in Vernon, by someone who lives here.
Custom sites and local SEO for law firms, clinics, trades, and food brands in Vernon, Armstrong, Coldstream, and Enderby.
Local work

Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce
Association. Member directory rebuilt: 116 businesses, each with its own page instead of one long list.

Fresh Valley Farms
Farm and food brand. Certified organic meat sold online. Shop, pre-order pickups, and farm stays on one site.

The Health Nest Clinic
Health clinic. Multi-practitioner site with a custom booking page that sends each patient to the right schedule.
Why local matters
Your clients search "vernon lawyer" or "armstrong plumber," not "best law firm." A site built here is written for those searches, linked to your Google Business Profile, and checked against the competitors you actually have.
What it costs
Template sites from $2,025. Custom builds from $5,940, and most clients land around $12,000. Hosting & Maintenance from $150 a month. Local SEO setup $2,500. Fixed scope, in writing, before you pay a deposit.
Town by town
Four markets, four different jobs.
The North Okanagan is not one search market. What ranks in Vernon does not rank in Enderby on its own, and a customer two towns over is comparing you to a different set of businesses. Here is how that changes what gets built.
- Vernon
- The biggest market of the four, and the most competitive. Law firms, clinics, dealerships, and trades all fight for the same map results. Winning here takes a page for every service, a Google Business Profile that is filled out properly, and enough page speed that a phone loads it before the visitor gives up.
- Armstrong
- My home town and my office. A small market where word of mouth still does most of the work, so the site has one job: confirm what somebody already heard about you. Fast, clear, and easy to reach on a phone beats clever every time.
- Enderby
- Small, spread out, and full of businesses that serve customers from three towns over. Service area pages matter more here than a single home page, because people search with a town name attached.
- Coldstream
- Close enough to Vernon that owners assume one page covers both, and far enough that Google does not agree. A separate page for Coldstream picks up searches the Vernon page never sees.
North of Enderby instead? The Salmon Arm and Shuswap page covers that market, which searches on its own terms.
Local SEO
Found first in Vernon.
Most of a local search result comes down to three things: a Google Business Profile that is complete and correct, a website with a real page for each service and each town, and consistent business details everywhere else on the internet.
The profile gets rebuilt first. Categories, service list, hours, service area, photos, and the description all get set properly, because a half-filled profile loses to a complete one from a smaller competitor. Then the citations get cleaned up, so your name, address, and phone number match everywhere they appear.
Then the pages. A trades company that covers four towns needs four pages, each one written for that town and its customers. Not one page with the town names swapped in. Google has been able to spot that trick for years.
Tracking goes in at the same time, so you can see calls and form fills instead of guessing from rankings. Rankings are a proxy. Calls are the business.
The Health Nest, a clinic in Vernon, needed a page for every practitioner, so patients could find the person by name. Same idea as a page for each town, in a different shape.
What I will not do is buy links, spin articles, or promise a ranking by a date. If someone in this town promises you page one by Christmas, ask them how, and watch what happens next.
Local SEO setup is $2,500 and takes four weeks. The ongoing retainer is $1,500 a month with a six month minimum. See what is in each.
Questions
From business owners around here.
- Do you meet clients in person?
- Yes, by appointment. My office is in the Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce space at the Odd Fellows Hall, about twenty minutes north of Vernon. Most project work still happens over email and video, because that is what fits around a working day.
- How long before I show up in local search?
- A new Google Business Profile or a rebuilt one usually starts moving in weeks. Ranking a service page against established competitors takes months, which is why the SEO retainer has a six month minimum. Anybody promising page one by a date is guessing.
- Is a Vernon business better off with a local designer?
- For the build, not always. Good work is good work. For local SEO, yes, because knowing the actual competitors and the way people here search saves a lot of guessing.
- What does a local site cost?
- Template sites start at $2,025 if your words and photos are ready. Custom builds start at $5,940 and most clients land around $12,000. Local SEO setup is $2,500. Hosting & Maintenance is from $150 a month. Every number is on the pricing page, including payment schedules.
- Do you work outside the North Okanagan?
- Yes. Anywhere in BC by video call, same process and same prices. Most of my clients are close to home because referrals travel about as far as people do.
