Acorn Websites

Services

Three things, done properly.

I build the site, I keep it running, and I make sure your town can find it. One person for all three.

01

Website design and build

A custom site that says what you do, who it is for, and why they should call you. Built to load fast and be found.

Template sites from $2,025. Custom builds from $5,940, and most clients land around $12,000.

What you get

A site you review on a private link before it goes live. Copy that sounds like you, edited for clarity. Pages for every service you want to be known for. Forms, booking, or a directory if you need one. Local SEO set up on day one.

How it runs

Fixed scope and price in writing. Weekly updates. Three to fourteen weeks depending on size, or half that on a rush timeline for 50% over the build price. A hosting and maintenance plan is picked before launch and starts on launch day.

Coming from a website builder?

Moving without losing rankings is a solved problem. See switching from Squarespace or switching from Wix. Fresh off a rebrand? Bring your brand.

Platforms

WordPress web design for most businesses. Shopify and WooCommerce for stores. Squarespace when you want to edit it yourself. Astro when the site is small and speed matters most. I pick what fits, and I tell you why.

02

Hosting & Maintenance

Hosting, updates, backups, security, and a real person when something breaks. Your site stays fast and stays yours.

From $150 a month. Sign up online, no call.

What is covered

Managed hosting, your domain, DNS, and email routing, software and plugin updates, daily backups, security scanning, uptime monitoring, and a monthly allowance of edits. Text or email me the change and it gets done.

Why it matters

Most site failures come from updates nobody ran and backups nobody tested. Hosting & Maintenance is the difference between a site that quietly works for years and one that breaks the week you need it.

Terms

A hosting and maintenance plan is required at launch and is not part of the build price. You pick it before the site goes live, and billing starts on launch day. Month to month after that, cancel with 30 days notice. Your domain stays in your name throughout.

03

Own your town on Google

Show up when someone in Vernon, Armstrong, Enderby, or Salmon Arm searches for what you do. Local SEO done properly: map results, service pages, and the boring technical work that makes both rank.

Setup $2,500. Retainer $1,500 a month.

Setup

Google Business Profile rebuilt properly. Citations cleaned up. Service pages written for your town, not for a generic "near me." Tracking installed so you can see calls and form fills, not just rankings.

Retainer

Monthly content and page work, local rankings work, a plain report, and a 30 minute call. Six month minimum because that is how long it takes to see it move.

What I will not do

Buy links, spin articles, or promise page one by a date. If someone promises that, ask them how.

Who this is for

Established local businesses that want more of their best clients.

  • Law and accounting firms
  • Health and dental clinics
  • Trades and home services
  • Farms and food brands
  • Associations and chambers

Based in Armstrong. Working across Vernon, Enderby, Salmon Arm, and the North Okanagan. Happy to work anywhere in BC by video call.

How a build runs

Six stages, and you know where you are in all of them.

Most people who have built a website before describe the same bad experience. Money up front, silence for two months, then a link and a surprise. Here is the order things happen in instead.

  1. 01

    Call and quote

Twenty minutes on the phone, then a written quote with the scope listed line by line. Paying the deposit invoice accepts it. There is nothing to print out and nothing to sign.

  2. 02

    Content plan

We settle the page list first. Every service you want to be found for gets a page, and every page gets a job. This is the week that decides whether the site works.

  3. 03

    Design

Your words and your photos go into the layouts, and you see the site on a private link. Changes are cheap here and expensive later, so this is where we take our time.

  4. 04

    Build

The site gets built on a private link. Weekly updates, so you always know where it sits. Forms, booking, and tracking all get tested before anyone sees it.

  5. 05

    Launch

Redirects go in, DNS switches over, and the old addresses point at their new homes. Launch takes minutes and your email keeps running the whole time.

  6. 06

    Hosting & Maintenance

Every site launches on a hosting and maintenance plan, chosen before launch and billed from launch day. I watch Search Console, fix what turns up, and handle your edits.

Three to four weeks start to finish on a Foundation site. Six to eight on Growth. Ten to fourteen on Flagship. The dates hold as long as you hit the review points, because the wait is almost always on approvals, not on code.

Which one do you need

Start with the problem, not the product.

Nobody can find you
You rank below competitors with worse businesses. Your map result is thin or wrong. If the site itself is sound, that is local SEO, not a rebuild. Setup is $2,500 and takes four weeks.
They find you and leave
Traffic is fine. The phone is quiet. That is a site problem: slow pages, unclear services, no reason to call. That is a custom build, from $5,940.
It works, but nobody minds it
The site is fine and nobody has touched it in a year. Plugins are stale, backups are untested, and the last person who had the login has moved on. That is hosting and maintenance, from $150 a month.

Not sure which one you have? That is what the first call is for. I look at the site before we talk and tell you which of the three would move the needle first.

Questions

About the services.

Does a new site include SEO?
Yes. Local SEO setup is in every build tier: page structure, titles, your Google Business Profile linked up, and tracking installed. The $2,500 SEO setup is for people who already have a good site and want that work done on it.
Do you design logos?
No. Websites are the job. If you already have a brand package from a designer, I build from it and your designer will recognize their work. See bring your brand.
What is the difference between the hosting and maintenance plans?
Hosting & Maintenance is $150 a month and keeps the site hosted, backed up, updated, and monitored, with a two business day reply. Hosting & Maintenance Plus is $250 and adds two change requests a month with a same day reply. Hosting & Maintenance Pro is $400 with six change requests and a quarterly title, meta, and speed check. Most single-location businesses are fine on Hosting & Maintenance Plus.
Can I edit the site myself?
Yes. WordPress and Squarespace sites are built to be edited by a normal person. Launch support is included, and Flagship builds include staff training. Most clients still text me the change, because Hosting & Maintenance already covers it.
Will you take over SEO for a site you did not build?
Yes, as long as the site underneath is sound. If it is not, I will tell you, because monthly SEO on a broken site is money set on fire.
What if I need something in a hurry?
Rush cuts any build timeline in half for 50% over the build price. A Foundation site can be live in two weeks. Rush work goes to the front of my schedule, which is what the premium pays for.
