The email newsletter software I recommend: Kit

When a client asks which newsletter service to use, I say Kit. I've used it since 2019. It's free until your list passes 10,000 subscribers, so you can start a newsletter before you pay for one.

These are my affiliate links. If you start a paid Kit plan through them, Kit pays me a commission. Your price is the same either way.

Why Kit

Built for one job.

Kit sends email to people who asked for it. That is the whole product, and it is why I pick it.

Free until 10,000 subscribers
The Free plan holds up to 10,000 subscribers before you pay anything. New accounts also get a 14-day trial of the Creator plan.
Forms and landing pages included
Kit collects the addresses too. Signup forms, landing pages, and the email editor come with the free account, so there is no second tool to pay for.
Works on any website
Kit forms go on WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Shopify, and custom builds like mine. One short piece of code goes where the form should sit.
Your list stays yours
Export your subscribers to a spreadsheet whenever you want. If you ever leave Kit, your list leaves with you.
Room to grow
Paid plans add automated email sequences. Pro adds Subscriber Signals, which shows you the real people behind your list.

You do not need a newsletter strategy deck. You need a signup form, something worth saying, and a send button.

Getting started

Four steps to your first send.

  1. 01

    Make a free account

Use the button on this page. Sign up with your own business email, so the account belongs to you and not to whoever set it up.

  2. 02

    Build one signup form

Ask for an email address and a first name. Each extra question is one more reason to stop.

  3. 03

Put the form on your site

Kit gives you a short piece of embed code. It goes on your site wherever you want the form to show.

  4. 04

    Send the first email

Write to the people who signed up. Once a month is plenty to start.

Canada's anti-spam law (CASL) asks for clear consent before you email someone. A signup form that says what people will get, and how often, is the cleanest way to have it.

Affiliate links. Kit pays me a commission on paid plans started through them, at no cost to you.
